JIS University was established through the JIS University Act, 2014 enacted through the Legislative Act of the Government of West Bengal that came into force in February, 2015. JIS University is the brainchild of the visionaries of JIS Group Educational Initiatives - the largest educational conglomerate of Eastern India with 39 Institutions, 185 programs and 45,000+ students. The University has a mission to be one of the top-class universities in India and a preferred destination for students, research scholars and faculty members. The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology of JIS University is established in 2016 with B.Pharm. course and later other programs such as D. Pharm., M. Pharm. in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, & Quality Assurance, Bachelor of medical laboratory technology (BMLT), Ph.D. in Pharmacy were introduced. The Department is recently recognized by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Govt. of India in pharmacy category in rank band 100 - 125 for consecutive years 2023 & 2024 and in 2025 (Rank - 97 ) . The department has well equipped ICT-enabled classrooms, well equipped modern laboratories, with the latest different analytical instruments, and highly qualified and dedicated faculty members.
