JIS University hosted its 5th convocation ceremony on its campus on 1st March, 2025 celebrating the remarkable academic achievements of its graduates. The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including Prof. Partha Pratim Majumder, National Science Chair, Science & Engineering Board, Government of India; Dr. Ramji Singh, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Kalyani; Prof. Kaustuv Sanyal, Director, Bose Institute, Kolkata; Sardar Taranjit Singh, Chancellor of JIS University & Managing Director of JIS Group; Sardar Haranjit Singh, Joint Managing Director, JIS Group; Sardar Amrik Singh, Deputy Managing Director, JIS Group; and Prof. Bhabes Bhattacharya, Vice Chancellor, JIS University. University officials, directors, deans, and faculty members also attended, making the occasion truly memorable.
The convocation began with an impressive academic procession, followed by the formal opening of the convocation by Sardar Taranjit Singh, Chancellor, JIS University & MD, JIS Group. Prof. Bhabes Bhattacharya, Vice Chancellor, delivered the convocation report, marking a historic moment for both students and faculty. The ceremony was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the university's graduates and the ongoing commitment to excellence in education at JIS University. Prof. Partha Pratim Majumder, Dr. Ramji Singh, Prof. Kaustuv Sanyal and Dr. Neeraj Saxena, Pro-Chancellor, JIS University also spoke on the occasion.
A total of 956 students were conferred degrees and diplomas, including 648 undergraduates, 221 postgraduates, 75 diplomas, and 12 Ph.D. recipients. In recognition of exceptional academic achievement, 43 students were honored with gold medals, 32 with silver, and 25 with bronze. Among the top achievers, Dr. Shayeri Biswas, Ph.D. in Science from the Centre for Interdisciplinary Sciences (CIS), received the Ph.D. - Gold Medal for Best Research Credentials in recognition of her outstanding research contributions. Ms. Prajana Banerjee, B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biochemistry from the Department of Bioscience, was awarded the Chancellor’s Gold Medal for the best undergraduate performance, while Ms. Puspita Sikder, M.Pharm. (Quality Assurance) from the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, received the Chancellor’s Gold Medal for the best postgraduate performance.
Additionally, the prestigious University Blue award was presented to Ms. Pratyasa Bandyopadhyay, M.Sc. in Physics from the Department of Physics, in the female category, and Mr. Pranav Goenka, MBA from the Department of Management Studies, in the male category. These degrees and honors were conferred across various faculties of JIS University, including the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Faculty of Management Studies, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Juridical Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Hospitality & Hotel Administration and JIS Institute for Advanced Studies & Research (JISIASR).
