Prof, Goutam Ghosh, carries with him a unique blend of experience combining Academics, Government and Industry. He has been the Vice-Chancellor and Dean of a large residential University. He has served as the Senior Vice President and CEO of large Industry and also worked under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt of India. As a former Prestigious World Bank Scholar he did research & teaching in the University of Wageningen, Netherlands (QS Global Rank 2 on Subject). Prof. Ghosh is an alumnus of IIT, Kharagpur and IIT, Delhi.

Prof. Ghosh in his academic leadership role has successfully introduced a number of sustainable academic programs and has also established the Innovation space like Atal Community Innovation Centre, Biotech eYuva Innovation Centre with multi crore Government funding. Prof Ghosh has spent years in the leadership role in Translational Research & Product Development in areas of Vaccines & Biologicals. He has successfully led the new product & process development of a number of vaccines including the India’s first Dengue Vaccine (in collaboration with National Institutes of Health, Maryland, USA), currently the vaccine is under Phase III clinical development. Through his translational research he has raised more than Rs 50 crores funding from various government agencies for his organizations. He was also a Co-founder of a unique Vaccine Research & Development Company which has worked on the development new and novel vaccines such as Hepatitis-E (In consortium project with AIIMS, THSTI, PGI Chandigarh). His company has also developed early preclinical stage technology on Chikungunya Vaccine, novel Combination Vaccine for Animal Pox and others.

Prof. Ghosh has travelled across the world as a part of various technology missions, for commercialization of Indian technologies and other collaborative ventures. In recent years Prof Ghosh has visited Wuhan, China under the invitation of Chinese Academy of Science. He was also a member of visiting delegation to WHO, Geneva and the Butantan Vaccine Institute, Sao Paulo, Brazil. He has also visited famous Grenoble Institutions in France as a part of the delegation of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) and the National Academy of Technology (NATF) France. Prof Ghosh has been a visiting faculty at a number of Institutions and has served member of the academic board of the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (Govt of India), Faridabad/New Delhi. He has been a member of various national committees, research organizations and apex bodies such as CII & FICCI and a member of the Executive Board and Vice President of the Asian Federation of Biotechnology, Seoul, South Korea. Dr Ghosh is the recipient of Sosil Kumar Jain-AMI Award (2024) for his outstanding contribution in industrial vaccine research & development.

Prof Ghosh is an avid sport enthusiast and passionate long distance cyclist. He had travelled from Kolkata to Kathmandu (Nepal) on Bicycle during his student time under the sponsorship of Rotary Foundation.
