About the Department

Pharmacy is all about the study of medicine, looking at how the drugs are created, the blend of chemicals, their chemistry and interactions which is required for a qualified pharmacist to know. Students who are interested in medicine but do not want to become a doctor can choose Pharmacy as an excellent alternative. A pharmacist can easily help in taking pressure off the emergency services and contribute to saving lives in different ways. Moreover, unlike a doctor, a pharmacist has the advantage of regular hours. In this way, as aspirant can contribute to helping people medically and also have a more structured lifestyle than medicine or nursing can offer. The Faculty of Pharmacy of JIS University started functioning in 2016 with Bachelor in Pharmacy, with prior approval from Pharmacy Council of India. Consequently, affiliation from AICTE was obtained for Pharmacy program. Currently we offer D. Pharm., B. Pharm., M. Pharm. (Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance), B.Sc medical laboratory technology (BMLT) and Ph.D. in Pharmacy. The department is equipped with latest analytical instruments like Heidolph rotary evaporator, Multi station dissolution apparatus, Shimadzu UV spectrophotometer, Bruker FTIR, Agilent HPLC, Eppendorf deep freezer amongst a very few. We have immense research focus on recent drug delivery system, herbal drug development, process development techniques and drug analysis using modern spectrophotometric approach.

PSO

PSO1: Demonstrate the ability to design, formulate, and analyze pharmaceutical products by applying knowledge of medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and pharmaceutics, ensuring safety, efficacy, and quality standards are met in drug development and manufacturing.
PSO2: Conduct and manage clinical and pharmaceutical research, utilizing ethical practices, regulatory guidelines, and data analysis skills to contribute to drug discovery, patient safety, and healthcare advancements.

PhD

Duration: 3+ Years

Eligibility:Postgraduate degree in related discipline with minimum 55% marks plus JIS University Research Entrance Exam.

M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility: B.Pharm from PCI Approved Institute with minimum 70% and above marks plus JET (JIS University Entrance Exam).

M.Pharm in Pharmacology

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility: B.Pharm from PCI Approved Institute with minimum 70% and above marks plus JET (JIS University Entrance Exam).

M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility: B.Pharm from PCI Approved Institute with minimum 70% and above marks plus JET (JIS University Entrance Exam).

M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility: B.Pharm from PCI Approved Institute with minimum 70% and above marks plus JET (JIS University Entrance Exam).

Bachelor in Pharmacy (B.Pharm)

Duration: 4 Years

Eligibility: Candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized Central or State Board or its equivalent with minimum 60%, with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects, and Mathematics or Biology as the 3rd subject.

WBJEE Exam: Student getting selected from WBJEE exam for B.Pharm Course must have 45% in PCB/PCM in State Board or its equivalent exam plus JET (JIS University Entrance Exam)

Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm)

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility: Candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized Central or State Board or its equivalent with minimum 50%, with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects, and Mathematics or Biology as the 3rd subject plus JET (JIS University Entrance Exam).
