The JIS University, Kolkata organized its 4th Convocation function on 29th June, 2024 in its campus. This year in the Convocation students were awarded their Degrees/Diplomas at various levels. UG Degrees, PG Degrees, Diplomas, and Ph.D. Degrees were awarded. Based upon the academic performances, 39 students received gold, 34 students received silver, 27 students received bronze medals and 1 student received gold medal as the University Topper.
The degree and diploma certificates were conferred amongst various constituent Faculties of JIS University, viz: Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Faculty of Management, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Science Faculty of Education, Faculty of Juridical Sciences, Faculty of Hospitality & Hotel Administration and JIS Institute for Advanced Studies & Research (JISIASR).
The function started with the official inauguration announcement by the Chancellor of the University, Sardar Taranjit Singh. Prof. Bhabes Bhattacharya, the Vice Chancellor of JIS University, presented the Convocation Report. Serving as the Chief Guest, Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Former Director of IIT Bombay and KN Bajaj Chair Professor delivered the Convocation address. Dr. Neeraj Saxena, the Pro-Chancellor of JIS University also delivered his speech at the function.
Prof. Tapan Kumar Nayak, Physicist and Professor, University of Houston (USA) and CERN (Switzerland), Prof. Arun Bandyopadhyay, Director, Gujarat Biotechnology University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil International University & Daffodil Education Network, Bangladesh, Prof. Bhola Thapa, the Vice Chancellor, Kathmandu University, Nepal and Prof. Md. Mashiur Rahman, the Vice Chancellor, National University, Bangladesh enlightened the august gathering as the Guests of Honour. The former Vice Chancellors of JIS University were also present in the Function.
Dr. Narinder Kumar, Controller of Examinations, Dr. Sanghamitra Kundu, Deputy Controller of Examinations, Prof. H. S. Maji, Dean Academics, Dr. Atanu Kotal, Registrar along with Directors, Deans and Heads of the Departments graced the occasion. The eminent representatives from academia and research fraternity and industries, Head of the Institutions from different colleges also attended the 4th Convocation ceremony.
