Student Induction Programme 2022
JIS University organised the Student Induction Programme 2022 for the newly admitted students for the academic year 2022-23, from 5th September to 15th September. The Student Induction Programme was organised to make the students feel more comfortable in their new environment, thereby making them more confident to approach their respective field of higher education. The Student Induction Programme was designed according to the mandates of AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) so that the students could integrate themselves within the university and prepare themselves for a life of academic excellence and beyond. The Student Induction programme was also an opportunity for the newly admitted students to know their peers, from within their department and other departments, which is very beneficial to foster the spirit of a common fraternity among the students. The bonds thus formed are essential for achieving the academic milestones of the university. The programme also enhanced the relationship between the students and the faculties. Most importantly, the programme was designed to impart character building education.
The Student Induction programme comprised of the introduction of the different schools and departments of the University by the respected Deans and Head of the Departments. On the second day of the Student Induction Programme 2022, highly venerated monk of Ramakrishna Mission order, Swami Sarvalokananda graced the occasion and delivered a lecture on ‘Indian Values and Tradition’ to instil in students the sense of overall character development. His highly enlightening lecture was followed by the rejuvenating lecture of Dr. Ajoy Kumar Ray, recipient of the Padma Shri Award. The other days of the programme consisted of lectures by the faculties of different departments. This was done to sensitise the students towards the academic possibilities of different fields so that the future researchers of the country can incorporate interdisciplinary methodologies in their intellectual tendencies. An ‘Art of Life Workshop’ was conducted in the Student Induction programme to empower the students against the pangs of depression, anxieties and distress. Students were also encouraged to participate in the cultural programme that was organised in connection to the Student Induction programme. The Student induction programme concluded with a trip to Victoria Memorial so as to acquaint the students with a site of historical and cultural interest.
