Orgnanised on 27th November the autumn semester skill exhibition witnessed more than 220 models, innovative products and business ideas across all the departments of JIS University. Among the judges was Mr. Indranil Sarkar, member of the CII Innovation club, Dr. Gautam Das, Big Data Analyst, accomplished academicians and researchers, across the departments. The Autumn SkillX 2018 was a grand success like every semester. Around 220 projects across 10 departments were showcased by our beloved students. JIS University has been awarded the best private university at the Education Excellence Award 2018 by Zee24Ghanta on 21st June 2018 at ITC Sonar Bangla. Our Honourable Vice Chancellor Sir Prof. B.C. Mal received the prestigious award from Sri Purnendu Basu, Honourable Minister , Technical Education, Government of West Bengal, in the august presence of Honourable Education Minister, Government of West Bengal, Dr. Partha Chatterjee and other eminent ministers and academic fraternities of West Bengal. Prof. B.C. Mal expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the teachers, students, industry and academic partners for this great achievement . JIS University has been awarded again as the upcoming University /Higher Education Institute from Eastern India for recruiting international students at Geneva, Switzerland by the Global India Education Forum . JIS University has been awarded as the fastest emerging University of India in ‘Byatikrom’ Award Ceremony of Assam held at Pragjyoti ITA Centre, Machkowa Guwahati on August 11, 2018. The award has been given by Dept. of Cultural Affair in association with Dept. of Tourism and Byatikrom Magazine. JIS University organised a seminar on 'Careers in Machine Learning' on the occasion of Engineers Day on 14th September at JIS University auditorium. Mr. Anirban Ghatak, Founder and Director of MieRobots, gave a wonderful informative and engaging deliberation to our budding engineers on the different machine learning skills and how they need to adapt themselves with the changing facets of technology.The session was followed by a small celebration of Engineers Day. A professor in Economics with a keen interest in globalisation and its impact in the world across gave his deliberation on ' An every day story of Globalisation'. JIS University and The Alliance française du Bengale signed a MoU for conducting an elementary and intermediate French language course for the University students at the University campus. The MoU was signed by Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. B. C. Mal and the Director Mr. Fabrice Plancon in the august presence of our Director Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Dean Prof. T.K. Chatterjee, Controller of Examination Dr. T. K. Saha and the members of the academic council members. On 4th September 2018, Law Seminar was delivered by Dr. Souvik Chatterji (HOD, Law)on the subject Expert testimony and use of Forensic Science in Criminal Cases. Colin Pitchfork case was discussed. Use of DNA in criminal investigation was explained. Daubert principle was explained. Reliability of Forensic Evidence was discussed and determination of time of Death was explained.
